Commencement 2000 Commencement Day Parking at the Homewood campus Because of construction of Clark Hall, a new biomedical engineering building, the traditional Commencement practice of allowing parking on the field south of Garland Hall will not be possible this year. Since May 25 is a university holiday, however, most staff will not be at work that day and all Homewood campus parking lots will be open to graduates and their guests. This will be true for
Graduates and guests for the two evening ceremonies, especially those arriving early, are advised to consider the lots marked in yellow on the map below. This is to avoid any congestion and delays that will be caused if incoming traffic for the evening ceremony mixes around the other lots with outgoing traffic from the afternoon ceremony. Security officers will be on hand to direct graduates and guests to the least congested lots. Though "U lot" (at the upper middle of the map) is farthest from campus by car, it is actually, for pedestrians, the closest of the "yellow" lots to the Keyser Quadrangle (also known as the "upper quad" or "Gilman quad") where the morning university-wide ceremony, the afternoon Homewood undergraduate ceremony and the evening SPSBE ceremony will take place. The university will post monitors at San Martin Drive to assist guests in crossing from U lot to campus. The "R" and "G" lots at the upper left of the map are the closest yellow lots to Shriver Hall, where the Krieger School evening diploma ceremony takes place.
Note: on the map, north is to the right. Information about parking for persons with disabilities is available online.
