Sick Transit is a compelling 13-minute video that grew out of a course that Professor Matthew Crenson (pictured, foreground above) taught on Baltimore, a city Crenson grew up in and one he has studied for three decades.

To get a true understanding of public transportation's woes on real people, Crenson had his students get out of the classroom and into the community, where they documented the serious struggles Baltimore's citizens—a majority of whom are African-American—face in trying to get to and from work.

Combining on-the-street reporting with research and footage of officials and activitists, Sick Transit recently debuted at the Homewood campus, where those lobbying for more funds for better transportation said they hoped to use the video to bring the issue to life for legislators.
