Dr. Gorman on a visit at Our Lady of Grace School, 2009
"Making Neuroscifence Fun" is a community outreach program designed to teach children pre-K through 8th grade about the brain and the nervous system through age-appropriate interactive and fun presentations. Our neuroscience student volunteers and Dr. Gorman visit Baltimore city schools and talk to students every year, from September through May.
As of May 2009, we have had 22 local schools participate in the program. In 2008 - 2009 we visited and presented to 5905 elementary and middle-school students.
The program was created and implemented by Dr. Linda Gorman in 2003. Dr. Gorman is a professor at Johns Hopkins University,
Every year we reach out to schools to enroll them in the program, and we are proud of their increased interest and support. If you would like to request more information, plan a visit to your school, or with any other questions, please email Dr. Gorman at lgorman1@jhu.edu.

The main intent of "Making Neuroscience Fun" is to educate children in kindergarden up through eigth grade about the importance of the brain and nervous system in everyday life.
The Undergraduate Neuroscience Program of Johns Hopkins University sends its neuroscience student-volunteers out to local Baltimore city schools to lecture on various topics from "How the brain controls movements and allows us to play sports" to "How drugs can affect our emotions and the way we feel."
