Frequently Asked Questions about the Belward Research Campus

What is Vision 2030 for the Shady Grove Sector?
Vision 2030 is a project to create a world-class science community that:

  • embraces smart growth principles
  • features a mix of uses (education, research, retail, and residential)
  • promotes a research community that advances applied science.

Where would this world-class science community be located?
The Vision 2030 Project for the Shady Grove Sector encompasses the Shady Grove Life Sciences Center and the Johns Hopkins University Belward Research Campus. See the map below.

Who is involved in Vision 2030?
While Johns Hopkins University has agreed to host this site, the Vision 2030 project is a collaborative effort involving all relevant stakeholders from academia, business, the community, and government. Representatives from the organizations located within the designated sectors on the above map are active participants.

What is the timetable on this project and how can I get involved?
The Vision 2030 project will provide plenty of opportunities for community members to get involved and share their viewpoints. Find out more about community outreach.

What feedback have you received so far from the community?
We have held three informal community input sessions to get preliminary feedback from our neighbors. You can download PDF versions of the presentations and notes from earlier meetings on our Community Outreach page.
