DISCUSSION

1. Review of Central Precinct Study

2. Discussion of closing Wyman Park Drive. The positive effect of visually and physically extending the campus to the Wyman Park Building while enhancing the aesthetic of the area and providing easy pedestrian access back and forth. Negative effects may include limiting vehicular circulation to surrounding streets, congesting them, and possibly changing the character of a historic Olmstead designed parkway.

3. Site options for Hodson Trust need to be developed sized to accommodate the classroom/auditorium functions currently being discussed.

4. The parking solution proposed for the Garland quad area can't be too expensive or obtrusive to merit the number of spaces provided.

5. If there is to be a garage incorporated in the Garland Quad area, a campus building should take in the grade change at the southern end of the quad.

6. There is a lot of support for adding more trees to the existing quads.

7. It was suggested that Student Services functions may need to be consolidated into one building and or area. How would the prospect of Web-based registration effect the area required to consolidate those functions?

8. More information needs to be collected on the plans for the development of the Memorial Stadium site. The proposed YMCA facility is supposed to be a showcase facility.

9. It would be interesting to conduct a survey of many campuses and find out the relationship of the physical appearance of a campus to admissions, and the relationship of the quality of student life to alumni giving.

Respectfully submitted,
