DISCUSSION

The library has expended effort to reroute pedestrian traffic from crossing too far up from the stop bar at Art Museum Drive and Charles Street.

The current lobby does not work as well as desired. It has less of a public face and is not as open and welcoming as they would like. The firm of Strategic Leisure was hired to do a study of way-finding and visual issues. They recommended interior changes such as moving the staircase against the wall, extending/expanding the retail and restaurant functions, extending the entrance out closer to the street, and art ideas for Charles Street.

The Library is now studying funding options.

Interest was expressed in creating an addition to the Museum that extends North toward the JHU Campus. This could serve as another entrance for the public (convenient to Homewood students, faculty, and staff).

Respectfully submitted,
AYERS/SAINT/GROSS, INC.
