DISCUSSION

The meeting began with discussion of the Eastern High School Site and the status of the development there. Charles Weinstein explained that 200,000 SF of the total 600,000 SF has been approved for development. Plans are to have the building ready by the beginning of the next school year. A large portion of the space will be administrative offices.

Steve Campbell explained the JHU functions that are to move to Eastern High School.

Gina Snyder gave a brief presentation of the plans for the YMCA development on the old Memorial Stadium site. It is to consist of a YMCA center, playing fields, swimming pool, an elderly housing complex, and a series of small unit housing for the elderly.

There was discussion of the Greenmount and 33rd area and how the University may influence positive growth in that area. Frustration was expressed over the inability to make left hand turns from 33rd St.

The redesign of Charles Street was discussed including the character of the street, the intended width of the lanes, median, sidewalks, parking lanes and travel lanes.

Luanne gave a brief review of current Master Plan process and an update on the East Precinct Study.

The limited parking in Charles Village and on the Homewood Campus was discussed and the desire to come up with common solutions to parking in the area.

Respectfully submitted,
AYERS/SAINT/GROSS, INC.
