JHU offers a broad range of opportunities for staff to enhance
current, and learn new, work skills, through various training programs.
The rationale and imperative for training for management and staff
is offered in the University's Management and Staff Training Policy
at http://training.jhu.edu/html/Main/trainingpolicy.asp
Faculty and Staff Development:
The Center for Talent Management and Organization Development, located
in the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources offers courses
in Talent Management, Organizational Development and Career Management
programs. University full-time and part-time faculty and staff are
eligible to participate in these programs. Please refer to the Talent
Management and Organization Development sites at http://tmod.jhu.edu/

Management/Supervisory Training:
As a requirement, within two years of initial employment, it is
expected that all new managers and supervisors will complete the
JHU
Supervisory Training Program established by Johns Hopkins University.
This training program consists of seven courses and is designed
to provide basic levels of supervisory skills to newly hired faculty
or staff or to faculty or staff that were recently promoted into
a position where they are responsible for the supervision of others.
The supervisory training program is conducted by Human Resources,
the Department of Health, Safety and Environment, and the General
Counsel’s Office. Participants are expected to complete all
courses in order to receive a certificate of program completion.
Learning and Development offers a variety of courses to enhance
your job performance and enhance your personal growth. The learning/training
sites at Johns Hopkins University have recently instituted several
new and/or revised financial e-courses, “Fast Facts”
and instructor led courses. In addition, several general financial
knowledge courses have been added which are pre-requisites to some
of the other financial courses offered. Completion of many of these
courses is required before access to on-line payroll, HR or financial
systems may be granted.
Financial Training:
Directors, Departmental Administrators, Financial Managers, RSAs,
Supervisors, and Budget Analysts, in particular, need to take appropriate
courses to enable them to fulfill their stated duties, to remain
in compliance, as well as to keep abreast of new or revised policies,
procedures or regulations.
