Medical coverage for Postdoctoral Fellows is administered on the
Homewood Campus through the Registrar's Office. It is University
policy that all full-time students in the Schools of Arts and Sciences
"maintain adequate health insurance coverage to provide protection
against unexpected accidents and illnesses". This policy may
be accessed at http://www.jhu.edu/~registr/insurance/insurpage4.html
Questions regarding the insurance requirement may be addressed to
Gail Rauenzahn, Assistant Insurance
Coordinator, at 410-516-8079.
Voluntary 403(b) Retirement Plan
Postdoctoral Fellows who receive a salary from the University,
may be eligible to participate in the Voluntary 403(b) Retirement
Plan which is an income deferral plan. (Income received from stipends
does not qualify.) Postdoctoral Fellows do not receive University
matching funds if they choose to participate.
To participate in the plan, enrollment material may be obtained
from the Benefits Service Center (x62000) and returned to the
Center on the 6th floor of the Wyman Building after completion.
. This material includes the necessary forms to authorize a reduction
in the Postdoctoral Fellow's taxable compensation and to allocate
the contribution to one or more of the investment companies offered
under this plan. An enrollment application for each of the investment
companies chosen must also be completed. Questions regarding a
specific fund may be directed to the individual investment companies
listed in materials provided by the Benefits Service Center.
