About our Events

Antonella Inserra (Nella)
Antonella Inserra aka "BFF Nella" is an online actress, video producer and commentator associated with the websites "Chez Apocalypse" and "That Guy With The Glasses" she often appears as the long suffering friend and sidekick of "Nostalgic Chick" Lindsay Ellis.  Active since 2008, Nella is a graduate of New York University and currently resides in the New York area.  Her work includes the full length movies "Suburban Knights" and "To Boldly Flee" and numerous other short subject videos and guest appearances.

Chez Apocalypse: How I Became a Professional BFF: Nella will focus on how she got involved with Channel Awesome, how she helped start Chez Apocalypse, and more about the progression of her career. She will speak for about 10-20 minutes and then open it up for questions.

50 Shades of Green, or, Writing By Cliche: Nella will discuss her 50 Shades project. She will start with a basic introduction, open it to questions, and read a chapter.

Nostalgia!: This will be an open discussion where Nella will mainly moderate a discussion of nostalgia, it's popularity, and if there's such a thing as too much nostalgia. We will look at cartoons, commercials, movies, or whatever the audience would like to see. This will be an informal group chat.

"+2 Comedy is a unique comedy trio unlike anything currently in the stand-up comedy world. This original form of stand-up comedy is created solely for nerds. Their comedy is on such topics as Star Wars, video games, comic books, anime, D&D and the like."

Japanese Fetishes: Beyond the Tentacle: This 18+ panel that takes an in-depth and educational look at japanese fetishes, and then turns that into a game show.

+2 Comedy Podcast Live!: A live Podcast where a celebrity guest, an audience member, and a member of +2Comedy battle it out in a winner take all nerd-off. All this going on, while also entertaining the masses, and having a good time!

Fan Fiction and YOU and The History of Fandom
Sophie Solomon will discuss the ins and outs of fan fiction as well as give a riveting talk on the history of fandom. Then, for part 2, she will continue the discussion on either fan fiction or fandom (or both!) depending on audience interest.

Andrew O'Neill will discuss the following topics about science fiction writing and publishing:
  Plot and/or character development
  Time involved in writing and editing
  Costs involved
  Publishing decisions; How technology has really increased the options for publishing and marketing books
  How that same technology has also created greater completion

100 Years of Narrative Art: From Peter Pan to My Little Pony by Alexander Mui
How far has culture come since the end of the Victorian Era? Has modern art and entertainment really been in decline? Do such different mediums and genres influence each other or do they exist in vacuums? Come on a 100 year journey as we use to Major Arcana cards from the Tarot examine 22 major events that have influence modern culture. From October 10th, 1911 the publication of Peter Pan to October 10th, 2010 the airing of Friendship is Magic. We will look at major works that shaped eras and genres like: James Joyce's Ulysses (Modern Novel), Lovecraft's Mountains of Madness (Cosmic Horror), Orson Well's Citizen Kane (Golden Age of Film), Alan Moore's Watchmen (Dark Age of Comics), John K's Ren and Stimpy (Animation Renaissance), Jun Maeda's Clannad (Birth of Visual Novel), and how they defined and influence modern media and culture.

The Great Literary Game: The Distillation of Influence by Alexander Mui
Alan Moore talks about his recent work as partaking in the Great Literary Game. But what is this Great Game? We will look about what Moore means as we examine his belief in magic and how it has affected his recent works, then look back to the dawn of humanity when ancient shamans and witch doctors would carry immortalize stories by passing them down generation to generation. We will observe a subtle game started by Edgar Allan Poe, continued by Junes Verne, H. P. Lovecraft, and now Moore himself.  Then we will look at how indy writers and comic artists affect this Game from Tijuana Bibles to doujinshi to the Air Pirates and the modern Game.

Fan Fiction Contest
Throughout the weekend, con-goers will be able to submit original fan fiction which will be reviewed by Sophie Solomon, +2 Comedy, and Nella. Here are the rules of the contest.

After briefly figuring out teams, we will move outside for a heart-pumping game of laser tag. You are free to drop in and out, but the laser guns are first come, first serve.

We will be hosting an exciting rave with music, glowsticks, finger lights, strobe lights, and more!

Greyhawk Campaigns

Tiny Little Thieves by Marc Yudson (GHR-GEO13-01): A string of thefts continue to plague the Halfling villages outside of Cymeravon. Can the adventurers put an end to this criminal activity? A one-round, Stand-alone Universal Wilderness adventure for character levels 1–5.

Sounds Like Trouble by David O'Connor (GHR-GEO13-02): The Prydythi of Gwyrth Bryn require aid to recover something that was lost long ago. The locals call upon adventurers to aid them in this time of need. A one-round, Stand-alone Universal Wilderness adventure character levels 1–5.

No Good Deed by Marc Yudson (GHR-GEO13-04): ... goes unpunished. With the death of the Arglwyth of Melgorn, Clear Sky and Geoff mourn. The funeral at Clear Sky reveals complications that may cause problems in the future. The PCs must bring their weapons and wits to help Geoff and Clear Sky handle the issue. Trail of Cthulhu
A narrative role-playing game that is low on crunch and mechanics and high on Lovecraftian drama, based on Robin Laws' Gumshoe system.  This session will be the chance for up to five players to choose a pre-generated character who will be destined to journey from the waking world into the Dreamlands in an effort to save their world from a threat that might not actually exist...

Star Wars Edition Fiasco
Fiasco is a GMless RPG where 3-5 players use dice and set of index cards to create a Coen Brothers-style crime caper.  Star Wars edition will attempt to enact the comedic tragedy of the modern day crime caper in a galaxy far far away, in a den of scum and villainy...

Spark RPGs
In between modules, veterans of the SparkForce7 Campaign will be available to talk to players. This is to aid them in pulling off Character Concepts, determine long range goals, and plans to carry them out. New players have 4 modules before their character becomes locked, and are unable to change anything done at Character Creation. This is to help them decide on how they want to play their new character.

Vacation at Meleenium Resort by Jeremy Guillmette (Sparks 129): A new high luxury resort just opened on Af'El. Out of the way and rarely visited before by the public, some say the skys are bluer than anywhere else in the galaxy.
