Welcome to Hopkins!

On behalf of the JHU Muslim Association, Welcome! We’re sure that you’re eagerly looking forward to starting a new stage of your life here at Johns Hopkins. As we learned ourselves when we were freshmen, you’ll find these next few months to be truly exciting and memorable (beyond the introductory chemistry and physics exams, of course). So where does the Muslim Association come in? Our goal is simply to provide for the religious needs of Muslims on and around campus and to sustain the tolerant Islamic community which exists here. We hope that you will take the time to get to know us and also become a part of this community.

Alhamdullilah, we have many events planned for the upcoming semesters. To get a sense of some of the things we’ve done in the past, check out the Events page or the Calendar. On a regular basis, we hold religious events, including student-run halaqas, and social events, from trips to O’s Place to ice skating outings. The Interfaith Center (IFC) has a prayer room which we have access to 24/7; the IFC is also used for suhoor and iftar meals during Ramadan. In addition, JHUMA organizes some major showcase events every year, including Islam Awareness Days and Spring Banquet. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail any of the Executive Board members. We look forward to seeing you!
