2009 - 2010 Representative

Saira Malik <spmalik25@gmail.com>

Salaam! My name is Saira, and I happily graduated in 2009 with a degree in Public Health and Psychology minor. I live in the Woods of Malik, Maryland, so you may still see me around JHU, especially since I'm currently pursuing a master's at the School of Public Health. I just can't get away from JHUMA. My hobbies include being a little sketchy (though many of my partners in crime have left Baltimore), discovering neat ways to make letters and numbers change colors, and cooking with eggs and mushrooms. I'm very excited to be the alumni representative this year, and feel free to contact me if you've got any questions or would like to get in touch with us!

2008 - 2009 Representative

Maryam Jelvani <desertuberose@gmail.com>

I graduated in 2008 with majors in English and Anthropology. Despite the Hopkins’ English program’s attempt to annihilate my love of literature, reading and creative writing are still among my favorite pastimes. I also love to cook and keep company, to laugh with good friends, to take spontaneous roadtrips, and to spend lazy days around the house with those I love (especially my husband!). I spent the last year teaching special needs high school students, and am now working on a master’s in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Maryland. I currently live in Rockville, MD and try to avoid Baltimore as much as possible, unless it’s to gather with JHUMA friends

2007 - 2008 Representative

Misu Tasnim <mtasnim1@gmail.com>

Salaam! I graduated in 2007 with a degree in Electrical Engineering (which I definitely recommend to undecided undergrads!). I am currently working at NASA and am pursuing a Masters in EE at JHU. Besides being a full-time nerd, I enjoy good food, fun travels, starting and never finishing arts and crafts projects, giving advice about things I have no experience with, volunteering for various organizations, and above all, a good laugh-attack with just about anyone. Being a part of JHUMA really helped me become more confident with my Muslim identity, and I hope to stay connected to such a wonderful community!

2006 - 2007 Representative

Sadiya Muqueeth <smuqueeth@gmail.com>

Sadiya graduated from Johns Hopkins University with BA in Public Health Studies (2006), after which she worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She is currently living in Paraguay as a Peace Corps Health Volunteer. During her time at JHU, she enjoyed being a member of the MSA community, especially helping organize the Fast-a-thon.
