Academic Exploration is comprised of credit-bearing courses sponsored by departments from the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering. The classes are taught for either one or two credits. Most courses are graded pass/fail; exception: study abroad and language courses are offered for three credits and award a letter grade. Please refer to our online course description and the course syllabus to see the grade type for your desired course. 100% attendance is expected for successful completion of Academic Exploration courses.
WHO CAN TAKE AN ACADEMIC EXPLORATION CLASS?
Only Hopkins undergraduate students (degree-seeking) who are currently enrolled for the Fall 2011 semester can register for credit-bearing Intersession courses. Undergraduate students who are not enrolled in the fall may register, but they must pay tuition ($1400 per credit).
CREDITS & DISTRIBUTION
You can receive credits toward your distribution requirements. We recommend talking to your advisor. Students can earn up to 3 credits during intersession. Select three 1-credit courses, take a 1-credit and a 2-credit class, or take one 3-credit course; it's up to you, but you cannot exceed 3 credits.
GRADES
You will receive a grade of pass/fail (S/U), which does not count toward your G.P.A. Study Abroad courses and language courses are offered for a letter grade. 100% attendance is expected for successful completion of Academic Exploration courses.
Register for up to 3 credits this intersession. Online registration will kick off at 7:00 AM on Tuesday, December 6th at isis.jhu.edu.
