Policy for Pickups

IGSA understands that for many students, this would be the first trip to a different country and so aims to aid in their transition as smoothly as possible.

1. IGSA shall strive to provide pick-ups as far as possible but it reserves the right not to do so in the event of
logistical problems arising out of the situations detailed below.

2. IGSA will try to arrange for pick-ups if the total number of people arriving in the peak time (Aug) is
manageable (30-35). Larger numbers would result in logistical problems pertaining to the number of
    volunteers and preclude any arrangements.

3. Arranging for pick-ups is a tedious and time-consuming process requiring a few volunteers to approach
and network with other Indians who may be willing to do this. Most office-bearers in charge of this
process are typically Masters students who may be away doing internships in summer. In any case,
maximum efforts shall be taken to ensure that a few people can coordinate this process, failing which
arranging pick-ups may not be possible that year.

4. Nevertheless, people who approach IGSA for pick-ups are advised to notify IGSA at least
3 weeks in advance so that suitable volunteers to drive up to the airport can be found, as a result of which
such people would stand a better chance. Most people who volunteer would have tight schedules and
would need sufficient notice to do so. Pick-ups CANNOT be arranged if notified 1 week or less in
    advance of date of departure.

5. In any case, circumstances may lead to a failure of pick-ups (the volunteer having a flat or defaulting at
the last moment),though typically such chances would be very low.
