  1. Business processes, policies and objectives must be designed to support the primary missions of education, research, patient care and service.

  2. Johns Hopkins will be committed fully to achieving and demonstrating maximum improvements in service, compliance and productivity.

  3. Johns Hopkins (executive leadership, HopkinsOne governance committees, project team) will emphasize eliminating barriers (i.e. University/Health System, division/division, function/function, central/user) in order to meet Hopkins goals of improved service, compliance and productivity.

  4. In order to achieve its goals, Johns Hopkins will be prepared to invest in building the necessary organizational competencies and reallocate financial and human resources to support new work responsibilities.

  5. All existing business priorities, policies and practices must be identified, evaluated and challenged using the following criteria: simplification, efficiency, consistency, effectiveness and compliance.

  6. Johns Hopkins will adopt “best business practices” that have been built into the functionality of the SAP and related HopkinsOne products, including no modifications to software.

  7. In order to achieve the benefits of service, compliance and productivity, Johns Hopkins will reorganize its operations wherever necessary.

  8. Johns Hopkins will establish standardized enterprise-wide policies, procedures and practices in order to achieve the benefits in service, compliance and productivity.

  9. New systems initiatives competing for the same set of resources will not be developed during the HopkinsOne development and implementation timeframe without approval of the HopkinsOne Executive Committee.

  10. Universal communication throughout this project about design and decisions is critical. Johns Hopkins sponsors and participants have the responsibility to bring forward issues as soon as they are identified.
