What are PEEPs?
Delicious, sugary sweet candy treats? Good guess but not the right kind of peeps. These PEEPs (Preventative Education and Empowerment for Peers) help CHEW to increase Homewood student's awareness and knowledge about varioius college health issues such as sexual health including contraceptive options, sexually transmitted infections, and women's reproductive health; sexual assault awareness; alcohol and other drugs; and healthy living; as well as promote Student Health and Wellness Center services. PEEPs accomplish this by going through specialized training to provide health promotion programs, events and outreach to their fellow peers.
Who are PEEPs?
Hey there! My name is Aisha and I am sophomore Public Health major from the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I am also a member of Stressbusters and an assistant for an Aging Study on cognitive decline. I wanted to join PEEPs because I am interested in preventative care and look forward to the opportunity to play a part in promoting healthy living for the Hopkins community. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, listening to music and cooking.

Hi! My name is Aishwarya and I'm a junior majoring in Public Health Studies and French. I joined PEEPs because I'm really interested in trying to find healthier solutions for my frequent junk food cravings and I want to share my passion for eating with the Hopkins community. I’m involved with a bunch of clubs on campus, and am a proud member of Pi Beta Phi. When I'm home I work as a Nurse's Assistant at a Hematology- Oncology practice. I love spending time with friends, especially when junk food is involved, so I’m hoping this year on PEEPs I’ll bring that under control. I enjoy dancing, playing the piano, shopping and relaxing with my family and friends. My greatest talent, however, is my runway walk. Ask me sometime and I'd be happy to show you.

Hi people! I am Amelie, a sophomore majoring in Romance Languages. I became interested in PEEPs when I noticed within myself, my own class as well as the larger student body the need to spread ideas for a healthier lifestyle in a manner that was relatable and effective. In my free time I love learning about other cultures, particularly in Africa and Latin America. I also enjoy writing, art history and psychology. I am very excited to be a part of PEEPs and hope to be a positive influence, lend a voice and a ear, and be a resource for the Hopkins community.

Hey everybody! My name is Julian and I am a Public Health Studies major in the class of 2012. Outside of PEEPS, I have worked for Brooklyn Chest Hospital and Baltimore Healthy Eating Zones. In my spare time, I enjoy outdoor activities such as running, hicking, canoeing, and kayaking. I'm really excited to work with PEEPS and I look forward to a great year.

Hi everyone! My name’s Kristan and I am a senior Public Health major from Long Island, New York. I’m really excited to be working with PEEPs because for me, it is important to know how to manage a healthy balance of work and play and I want to be able to share those ideas with other people. Outside of PEEPs, I’m involved in Tutorial Project as an organizer and a volunteer at Bayview with Health Leads. After I graduate, I’m hoping to spend a few years in the Peace Corps or Americorps before heading back to school. In my free time, I love to travel, cook and go to baseball games.

Hey! My name is Megan and I am a junior majoring in Behavioral Biology and Philosophy. I am excited to join PEEPs to learn more about healthy living, meet new people and reach out to fellow students. I think that it is important for people to know that their health is in their hands and I look forward to working with people to live healthier and happier lives. I am currently overcoming a chronic illness and have found that simple lifestyle changes can make a huge difference. I hope to share this with others for their chronic or even acute problems. I love to run, do yoga, kayak and any fun and challenging exercise.

Hi! My name is Sasha and I'm a sophomore Public Health major from New Jersey. I joined PEEPs in order to inform and counsel the student body on how to maintain a healthy, balanced diet and live a (relatively) stress-free life in the chaotic, over-stimulating environment that is college. Outside of PEEPs, I'm involved in the Tutorial Project and Hopkins for Education Reform. In my spare time, I love to travel, read, write, and watch movies!

Hey, my name is Tina and I’m a sophomore majoring in Public Health Studies. I’m a random person by nature, so in my free time I like to watch scary movies, color pictures in rainbows with crayons and markers, eat lots of chicken, and freestyle dance. I’m a part of SHARE and a diabetes intervention project called “Healthy Bodies, Healthy Souls.” I look forward to working with PEEPs this year.
