Residence Hall Close Down

The housing contract for all freshmen of the AMRs, and Wolman is for the period beginning on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, and ending on Friday, May 16, 2014. All sophomore and upperclassmen Residence Hall 9-month contracts begin on Friday, August 30, 2013, and end on Friday, May 16, 2014. Residents may not move in before the assigned date or move out past May 16, 2014 at noon.
In addition, the AMRs, Wolman, Hopkins Inn, Roger’s House, Charles Commons (9 month contract spaces) and McCoy halls will close and all residents must move out by 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 27 through Sunday, December 1 until noon; from Saturday, December 21, at noon through Sunday, January 5, until noon; over Spring Break, from Saturday, March 15 at 10:00 am to Sunday, March 23 until noon.  Since heat and hot water are turned down during this time and exterior door locks are changed, no exceptions will be made to this closedown requirement. There are two wings in Wolman Hall, one wing in McCoy, and one wing in Charles Commons that are used as vacation floors where students may remain during Thanksgiving and Spring Break. The Charles Commons floor is also open during the Winter break. Students can sign up to live on vacation floors during the room selection process. When can I begin mailing packages

This year you may begin to send packages on August 21st. We ask that you not send items prior to this time as secured storage space in the mail rooms is extremely limited. We cannot accept items to be stored in students' rooms (or elsewhere) ahead of time.

Mailroom Hours:

The AMR II mailroom will be open during Freshman Move-In hours and will switch to a full operational schedule beginning Tuesday, September 3rd. The Wolman and Charles Commons mailrooms will be open:
  • Wednesday, August 28th: 10:00am-5:00pm
  • Thursday, August 29th : 10:00am-5:00pm
  • Friday, August 30th: 9:00am – 8:00pm
  • Saturday, August 31st: 10:00am – 5:00pm
  • Sunday, September 1st: 12:00pm – 4:00pm
Once a delivered parcel is received and processed, an email notification will be sent to the student's JHU email account and the package will be safely stored in the mail room. Following move in weekend, the package/s will be made available during regular package pick up hours.

Street Parking

Street parking in Charles Village is extremely limitedaround the Hopkins campus, most of which is metered or limited hour only parking. There are heavy ticket and towing penalties. As such, students are strongly discouraged from bringing cars to campus because living in the residence halls does not qualify the students for either a city or campus parking permit. For more information about parking on campus please call the parking office at 410-516-7275.

Contruction in the area: Please be diligent in complying with all parking signs on or around campus . There is a great deal of construction occurring around the Homewood campus - specifically, Charles Street between 25th Street and University Parkway. Please be mindful of street closures and all construction areas. For more information about the construction please visit http://www.fm.jhu.edu/charlesstreetconstruction.
