Subject: Homewood Campus Receiving Procedures

In accordance with the University's plan to reduce vehicular traffic on the Homewood campus, effective June 10, 2002, a Central Receiving Station will begin operation. This facility will serve as the primary receiving point for supplies and equipment delivered to the Homewood campus. The Receiving Station shall operate Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Except as noted below, deliveries for departments and offices located on the Homewood campus, should be addressed as follows:

Receiving Station personnel shall receive and deliver all goods received to departments and offices located on campus. All goods received by 3:00 p.m. shall be delivered the same day.

Exceptions

1. Departments and offices located in the Alumni Memorial Residences, Athletic Center, Bloomberg Center, all offices and departments on the east side of Charles Street, Olin Hall, ROTC, Wolman Hall, and Wyman Park Building shall continue to receive deliveries directly from vendors, and should continue to use current delivery addresses.

2. The following deliveries shall continue to be made directly to campus. Orders for these items and services should continue to be addressed directly to the appropriate campus delivery location.

  • Deliveries from Office Depot
  • Laboratory gases
  • Bottled water
  • Dry Ice
  • Overnight express delivery packages (before 10:30 a.m.) from FedEx, UPS, and DHL
  • Large equipment
  • Rental furniture and equipment
  • Animals
  • Food and beverages
  • Facilities management supplies
  • Access to campus by large delivery trucks will be restricted. Deliveries of large, heavy pieces of equipment, furniture, etc., shall be scheduled in advance. Purchasing Services and the Security office shall coordinate the delivery of such items with vendors and campus departments and offices.

    Arrangements for the outbound shipping of material, other than those being shipped via overnight express delivery, may be arranged by contacting the Central Receiving Station. Receiving Station personnel shall collect and ship out the material.

    A Material Return Request form should be completed and provided to Receiving Station personnel along with the item(s) to be shipped out. Material cannot be shipped without a completed Material Return Request form. Copies of the form may be obtained from the Central Receiving Station, or the University Supply Store located in Mudd Hall.

    NOTICE: A Town Hall meeting to discuss campus receiving procedures will be held on Friday, May 31st, from 10:30 a.m. until noon in Shaffer Hall, Room 3. Please attend the meeting to ask questions, and learn more about campus receiving procedures.
