The GX Listserv The GX list provides information you need during the "Great Excavations 2" project at the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus. Today is Wednesday, May 29. Today's GX includes:
1. Work today 1. Work today Crews preparing for the kickoff of the new chemistry building project will be doing site preparation work today on the northwest side of campus, in the general area of the Johns Hopkins Club and Mudd Hall. They will be taking out some trees in the northwest corner of C lot (the parking lot at the club) to make room for a new entrance drive into that lot. A few parking spaces are being blocked off for the day. The crews will also take down a few trees west of T lot (at the northwest corner of Mudd Hall). Seven spaces are being blocked off for today; the disabled spaces in the lot will not be affected. Finally, some trees will be taken down at the southwest corner of Mudd Hall (in the area closest to Macaulay and C lot) to prepare for excavation in that area. 2. Mudd Hall With the start of construction nearby, the main entrance doors on the west and center sections of Mudd Hall will soon be closed. Contractors also will be closing pathways behind and to the west of Mudd to keep pedestrians safely away from excavation work and a temporary loading dock. An alternate path will be built around the closed area. 3. More on all this A reminder: The managers of the chemistry building project are holding two open meetings this week to brief faculty, staff and students on what will happen when. All are welcome, especially those who work in nearby buildings. The meetings will be held this Thursday, May 30, and Friday, May 31. Both are at 9:30 a.m. and both are in 100 Mudd Hall. 4. An answer An alert reader asked whether the news that the Marketplace at Levering is moving temporarily to Mattin Center will have any effect on catering operations. The answer from Dining Services is no: There are no GX2-related changes to the catering program. 5. Subscribing and unsubscribing Please let others who may be interested know about this list.
