The GX Listserv The GX list provides information you need during the "Great Excavations 2" project at the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus. Today is Tuesday, June 18. Today's GX includes:
1. Road closure, Part 1: Behind Hodson 1. Road closure, Part 1: Behind Hodson This Friday, June 21, the Hodson Hall contractor will close part of the western service road behind that new, nearly complete classroom building. The closure is for installation of steps along the pedestrian path from Hodson down to Olin Hall. It will be in effect from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. No vehicles or pedestrians will be allowed on the road between Hodson and Levering halls during that time. 2. Road closure, Part 2: The chemistry project Starting Wednesday, June 19, there will be a major rerouting of pedestrian and vehicle traffic that enters campus through the lacrosse gates (from San Martin Drive near the Johns Hopkins Club). You will no longer be able to go straight uphill, then around the bend at Mudd Hall to points south. That section of road will be closed for underground utility work. Instead, traffic will be detoured onto the new driveway on the right-hand side as you enter campus from San Martin Drive. That detour will take you around the front of the Johns Hopkins Club and back onto the road at Owen House. From there, you can proceed to destinations such as the Greenhouse or the Jenkins loading dock. Northbound traffic from the Garland Hall area will, likewise, be routed around the front of the Johns Hopkins Club to the new driveway, and from there out to San Martin. The Macaulay Hall loading dock remains open for now; the temporary loading dock being built behind Mudd Hall is not yet open. But trucks headed for the Macaulay dock from the lacrosse gates will have to take the detour around the Johns Hopkins Club along with other traffic, then take a left through the construction fence to the loading dock. NOTE: Only Macaulay loading dock traffic (and one special case handicapped parker) will be allowed through this gate in the construction fence. All other southbound traffic must turn right coming out of the Johns Hopkins Club. Northbound traffic will have to turn left at the construction fence and go around the Johns Hopkins Club to San Martin. Pedestrians heading east onto campus from San Martin Drive and the lacrosse gates should look for detour signs. Please note that these road closures and detours are for your safety, particularly the safety of pedestrians. Heavy construction equipment and dump trucks will be working throughout the area of the closed road. Pedestrians will not be safe in the closed area. 3.
