Virtual JHU Gigapixel Panorama

2009

Who are we?

The Gigapixel project is a group of four students who over the course of this past year have been working towards enhancing the virtual experience of the Johns Hopkins University and the City of Baltimore through the creation of large-scale, navigable digital panoramas accessible via the internet.

What are we up to?

We are currently building a robotic camera mount that will shift the camera intermittently so that we can take a large amount of photos in a short period of time while maintaining a precise grid pattern.

What are our plans?

We hope to photograph campus during intersession. As soon as we are done we will begin to create the gigapixels.

Anything Else?

We are currently using the the Computational Interaction and Robotics Lab under the direction of Professor Gregory Hager and are also under the employ of JHU Student Technology Services. We would also like to thank the Students Initiative Fund for providing funding.
