A farewell to remember
President Brody's sendoff brings laughter and tears to friends and colleagues

John Holland, 89, studied personalities in workplace
John Holland, professor emeritus in the Department of Sociology in the Krieger School, died on Nov. 27. He was 89.

Batteries NOT required in student-engineered cars
For their first major design project, freshman mechanical engineers at Johns Hopkins had to think low-tech. The students were assigned to design, build and race model cars that could not use conventional motors — or even a single battery. Each vehicle could be powered only by two mousetraps and six rubber bands.
