Adam, Violaine, and Betsy are back in the temple today, work continues almost as if our excursion to Aswan had not. Sigh… Now there are only a few columns drums left in situ. After this one those remaining to be moved are cracked through and will separate into two pieces, so we are being careful to give them plenty of space. |

Saadi and Betsy are both concentrating on documenting the drums that have been brought to the mastaba. As Saadi carefully removes surface dirt from the painted inscriptions, Betsy makes measurements of diameter and heights and then does hand copies of the texts. She is reconstructing each column by this means so that next year we can rebuild the porch of Hatshepsut. |

Violaine and Betsy continue to discuss the mud brick work beneath the temple’s present porch area. Pottery being studied at the dig house is helping us to define the chronology of these walls, but at the site we hope to see how they relate to each other – and to the stone next to and above them. |

Violaine has been drawing the long walls that run east and west across the front (north) of the porch. You see her making her measurements off of a long central measuring tape, noting these with points, and later plotting them on the drawing. |
