Hopkins In Egypt Today

Scenes of Men Fighting   Scenes of Men Fighting

Several of the late First Intermediate Period (ca. 2000 B.C.) tombs have a rear wall covered with men fighting hand to hand, as well as warfare scenes showing fortresses under siege. The men are shown nearly naked and are thus certainly not in true battle scenes; rather these are more like demonstrations of wrestling.

Tomb of Khnumhotep II   Emily Taking Pictures

The latest of these tombs belonged to Khnumhotep II, who lived and served in the mid-Twelfth Dynasty. Emily is carefully photographing the beautifully painted scenes.

Sarah Taking Pictures   Katie Taking Pictures
Adam Taking Pictures

Doing photography all day long. Here's Sarah with her mini tripod. Now that's dedication to the photograph! And there's Katie - one-handed. The whole group stands outside the tombs at the end of our visit, but Adam's still shooting back at the camera.

Entering Minya

Heading back to the hotel in Minya at the end of our visits. The great town of Hollywood has nothing on Minya. What do you think?
