Hopkins In Egypt Today

Exposed Block   Exposed Block

On the platform where Fatma is supervising work the clearance has exposed reused blocks of Thutmose III built into the outer foundation perimeter. These will be removed and conserved during our work this season and replaced by Franck with newly quarried stone.

Female Figurine

Today Elaine found the lower portion of a female figurine. Elizabeth was particularly happy, because she is writing her dissertation on the Mut figurines and has created a typology for them. This one is of a sort well known to her, but you'll have to wait for the bestseller to learn all about it.

Emily Takes Notes   Close View of Bronze Vessel   Kent Works on the Vessel
Kent Poses for Jay

Emily and Kent are working on the bronze vessel remains taken from her square yesterday. She takes notes based on his visual analysis, and he then begins to do some basic cleaning. After taking small fragments from the surface, Kent hydrates them and begins to do further examination. Wearing the "goggles", Kent looks up at Jay with his ever-available camera, and voilà! The vessel itself may take a very long time in conservation, but we'll get a prognosis for it over the next weeks.
