So basically this meeting was a summary of what DSAGA is, what everyone would like to see from DSAGA, and what DSAGA will be this year Past Events New Things for this year Upcoming Events REMINDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to everyone for taking the mini-surveys and for coming to the meeting and for being the best group of DSAGA Members ever! (and thanks for making brownies Dan)

At this meeting we had an update on whats happening
this semester....Awarness Days is Coming!!! yay!
an award winning film depicting corruption and homoeroticisim in 16th centruy Korea. Great film!
discussion about the history of HIV and some general facts. We also made red pins to show our
support for those with HIV, and those working for a cure, for HIV/AIDS.
the Transgender community we discussed Transgender Day of Remembrance and what
it means. We also watched Transgeneration, which is an amazing documentary that follows
four collegiate transsexuals as they transition.

2. LGBTA culture; Say What? We disccussed:
a.How we define LBGTA culture
b.Whether there is a true LGBTA culture in the sense that the word "culture" is commonly used
3. Children of LGBTA kids We discussed:
a. Roles of Public Schools in LGBT education
b. The parallels of the LGBT civil right movement to the African American Civil Right movement.
1. Mary Zacari Came from Equality Maryland. We Discussed:
a Current legal struggles facing LGBT equality
b. The recent Maryland court case decision that once again denied equal marriage opportunity
c. Some ways we as college students can help:
i. Being Out, as whatever you are, even and especially straight allies.
ii. Writting your congressman, showing support for equal rights
iii. Volunteer with LGBT rights organizations such as Equality Maryland or the Human rights campaign
2. Coming Out Day
a COMING OUT DAY IS THIS THURSDAY!!! YAY!
b. We have some volunteers to help man the breezeway and FFC table, but can always use more. Email us.
c. The LGBTea party is this Saturday from 1-5pm: free food and fun, Bring your friends!
1. The Deans came to talk to us about support on campus for the LGBT community.
2. We played Jeopardy
3. Coming Out Day Update
a. We still need volunteers for coming out day. For things like decorating the breezeway, manning the Coming Out table, possible chalking and more.
1. We had elections for the positions of Treasurer and Events Coordinator. The winners were:
a. Connie Calderon- Treasurer
b. Mini Huynh- Events Coordinator
2. Stressbusters came to visit
a. YAY!!! Thank you so much to the Stressbusters for their amazing massage skills!
We hope they come back soon!
3. Dupont Circle Trip
a. We decided that it would be better to go to Dupont Circle on a Thursdaynight, not Friday night, as
on Thursday night some things are free to college students and there would be more college kids
4. We talked about the sad news concerning Gay Marriage in Maryland

5. Halloween Mixer
a. Will be at either Towson or Loyola, and the consensus at the meeting was that people would not
mind paying a $5 cover, especially if there was food (which there will be)
1. Field Trips: Mt. Vernon, DuPont, Apex
2. Campus Events: Nat’l Coming Out Week, Fall BBQ (Oct), Awareness Days, Sex on the Beach
3. Outside Events: Out For Work
4. Service Activities: GLSEN, EQMD, AIDS, GLCCB
1. Collaborative events with other schools (Towson, Loyola, Goucher, MICA)
2. More Field Trips
3. Cross cultural Activities with different cultural groups (BSU, OLE, CSA...)
Out for Work
1. Date: September 29-30; We will probably be only going for the events of the 29th, though you’re registration fee covers all the events.
2. Cost: For 10 people going, $20 per person plus the cost of transportation (budget at least $10…if worse comes to worse, we’ll take the train system which could cost up to $30)

Next week's meeting, September 17,2007 we will be meeting at 6:15 pm at the Charles Commons St. Paul Shuttle stop for a trip to the baltimore GLBTborhood.
