Project Background
This system developed out of a university-wide user survey a couple of years ago, which showed there was strong interest in a system that would help departments manage digital photos and other files. A volunteer committee—with members from the Sheridan Libraries, IT, the Krieger School, Engineering and several public affairs offices—developed criteria, and then researched the universe of digital asset management solutions available.
A successful pilot project in 2003 led to the purchase of the application, which runs on Johns Hopkins secure servers in East Baltimore and is managed by Johns Hopkins IT.
