Where you can get contraception
CondomsLifestyle condoms are free in Campus Housing bathrooms, from RAs, or from the Campus Health Center. You can also get condoms of specific brands and styles at discounted prices by filling out this form from the Health Center. You can also buy condoms in Charles Street Market, the campus bookstore, University Market, and Eddie's Grocery. Many JHU students wear nursing scrubs to class and around campus.
The "Pill"
You can get oral contraceptives prescribed by the Health Center. This does not require a pelvic exam beforehand (although you have to get one within 9 months for health reasons). The Health center prescribes both combination and progestin only pills. Prices range from $22 to $38 (and it's only $8 if you have Hopkins health insurance).

Emergency Contraception
What is it?
Emergency contraception (also known as "EC" or "the morning-after pill") is a safe and effective way to prevent pregnancy after unprotected intercourse. It can be taken up to five days (120 hours) after unprotected intercourse. The most commonly used kind of emergency contraception is Plan B.Emergency contraception does NOT cause abortion. It prevents fertilization by stopping ovulation and thickening a woman's cervical mucus, which will block sperm and keep it from joining with an egg. There is no proof that EC prevents a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterine wall. It just stops the process of fertilization. The pill does this with the same hormones in birth control- estrogen and progestin.
You can get more information about Emergency Contraception from Planned Parenthood.

Crisis Pregnancy Centers
Wolves in Sheep's Clothing
Crisis Pregnancy Centers claim to be safe places for women to come to discuss their options when faced with an unintented pregnancy. However, these centers are usually run or supported by local churches or national anti-choice groups. They DO NOT give true information about all of a woman's options. The CPCs either refuse to give information about abortion or do even worse by giving false and misleading information about the process. There are over 65 CPCs in Maryland and they pose as full service pregnancy centers. In these centers, many innocent women are misled about their reproductive options. Please make sure that a CPC doesn't fool you.Who you CAN trust
Many CPC's claim that clinics that do abortions will try to mislead you to convince you to have an abortion simply to make money. This is false. Clinics that provide abortions are not doing so to make money, they are doing so for the health and safety of women. You can trust a source like Planned Parenthood, because their goal is to make sure that every person around the world has the opportunity to make safe, informed decisions. Planned Parenthood and affiliated clinics will provide all information about pregnancy, pre and post natal care, adoption, or abortion. Please contact one of the clinics listed above and do not be fooled by a Crisis Pregnancy Center.More Information
Not sure if the place you're going is a CPC? First, ask them about abortion. If they can't give you straight answers, GET OUT! You can't trust them to be honest and truthful with you about medical options of any sort. Still wondering? It might help to look at this site of Crisis Pregnancy Centers. Remember, these are the places NOT TO TRUST. Instead, you should look up clinics at Planned Parenthood's website.Read The Truth Revealed: Maryland Crisis Pregnancy Center Investigations conducted by NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland for more information on how CPCs mislead clients.
