Several of our junior students have been recognized for their excellent performances:
* Rachel Truitt receives the AiChe Award for Scholastic Achievement which
recognize juniors with highest scholastic standing.
* Matt Moura receives the ChemBE Undergraduate Research Award for his
contribution to research in the field of ChemBE.
* Michelle Ho receives the Fisher award, a new award for excelling
academically and involvement in research related to cancer. |

Dr. Gerecht receives March of Dimes Foundation Basil O'Connor Starter Scholar Research Award.
The March of Dimes Foundation's mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. The Basil O'Connor Starter Scholar Research Award is designed to support young scientists just embarking on their independent research careers and whose research interests are consonant with those of the Foundation. |

Dr. Gerecht receives American Heart Association Scientist Development Award.
The American Heart Association National Scientist Development Grant supports highly promising beginning scientists in their progress toward independence by encouraging and adequately funding research projects that can bridge the gap between completion of research training and readines for successful competition as an independent investigator. |

Rachel Truitt receives Paul A. C. Cook Award from the ChemBE Department.
This award is given to outstanding sophomores or juniors in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department who are best all-around students. |

Dr. Gerecht was awarded the 2008 Maryland Outstanding Young Engineer Award.
The award is sponsored by the Maryland Academy of Sciences and conferred by the Maryland Science Center in the hopes of encouraging the important work of young scientists and engineers in the state of Maryland, and to increase public awareness of their accomplishments. Dr. Gerecht receives this award for her work in the science and engineering of stem cells. Prior recipients include Sol Snyder and Bill Phillips (Nobel Prize in Physics, 1997). |
