On-Campus Recruiting Policies

These policies are included in to the On-Campus Recruiting Agreement/ Registration Form, and are below for reference. Students who register for OCR and sign this agreement agree to represent Hopkins well. You can do so by simply following common business etiquette and following through with your recruiting commitments.

As you participate in OCR, please bear in mind that employers and alumni will assume that your actions represent Hopkins generally. As a result, missing interviews, skipping information sessions, and submitting poor resumes could have a detrimental impact on other current and future Hopkins students.

A. Cancellation of On-Campus Interviews

I agree to appear for every interview I schedule with an employer. I may cancel a scheduled interview, if necessary, up to two (2) business days before the interview by notifying both the employer and the Career Center. I understand there will be penalties assessed if I do not adhere to this policy. A cancellation less than two business days before an interview, or failure to attend an interview, will be considered a “no-show.”

First No-Show: My OCR privileges will be suspended automatically, to be reinstated or terminated at the discretion of the Director or designee. I must write a letter of apology to the employer and make an appointment with the Director or designee. Until these two things are done, I may not participate in OCR, including upcoming interviews. Second No-Show: My OCR privileges will be permanently terminated.

B. Misrepresentation

If I falsify documents or misrepresent myself to any employer, whether via on-campus programs or in my independent job search, I may be subject to University judicial charges. The Career Center may rescind my privileges to use its services or programs. Employers have the right to terminate my employment or withdraw a job offer for misrepresentation.

C. Acceptance of Job Offers

Once I have accepted a job offer, whether via On-Campus Recruiting or in my independent job search, I am expected to withdraw my application to all other employers and positions to which I have applied. Reneging on an acceptance of an offer is unprofessional, jeopardizes my future in that profession, and jeopardizes the reputation of Johns Hopkins in the employment community. The Career Center may rescind my privileges to use its services if I renege on an acceptance of a job offer.
