Several excellent programs exist that provide funding for students to work in Maryland government and nonprofit agencies.
The Governor's Summer Internship Program (GSIP) was created to
introduce college students to the challenges and rewards of working
within state government. Over a ten-week period, interns work
on substantive projects, develop policy papers, attend site visits
and seminars, and are exposed to the world of state politics.

The Maryland DOT Fellows Internship Program is designed to introduce Maryland's most promising college students to the rewards and challenges of working within Maryland's integrated transportation system. For 8 weeks during the summer, interns are placed in senior-level assignments in one of MDOT's integrated system of agencies. Then during the subsequent fall or spring semesters, students participate in a part-time internship in one of MDOT's agencies.

The Walter Sondheim Jr. Maryland Nonprofit Leadership Program offers paid summer internship opportunities in the nonprofit sector to college juniors, seniors, and graduate students attending Maryland institutions. Interns work for ten weeks, full-time during the summer while participating in bi-weekly seminars in nonprofit management. Each participating student receives a $3,000 scholarship.
