Mock Interviews

”Great Mock Interview! Really helped me prepare and feel confident for my interview.” —Gisela, 2006, Biomedical Engineering

A mock interview is an excellent method of preparing for your upcoming interviews. Whether you are going to be interviewing for a full-time job after graduation or an internship during the school year, a mock interview can help you to prepare for the real thing.

*Mock interviews are one hour long. If you simply wish to talk about interviews, you should make a typical 30-minute appointment with a counselor.

By 5:00pm on the business day (Monday through Friday) before your mock interview, you must drop off or email (career@jhu.edu) the following to the Career Center:

  • Your Resume (Without a copy of your resume in advance, the mock interview will be rescheduled)
  • Job description and organization literature, if you have it

What are Mock Interviews Like?

Mock interviews are video-taped by your career counselor so that you can review your verbal as well as nonverbal responses in an interview setting. You will receive feedback based on this experience to help you improve for the actual interview.

On the day of your mock interview, we encourage you to dress as if for an actual interview. Click here to learn more about interview attire.

Prepare for Your Mock Interview

Prior to your mock interview, we encourage you to take the following steps so that you are well-prepared:

  • Attend an Interviewing workshop. Go to the Career Calendar to view a schedule of upcoming workshops.
  • Review the Interviewing Handout (pdf)
  • Practice answering common interview questions and any other questions that concern you.
