Antonello Bove |
Antonello's expertise includes project management and corporate strategy, managing projects and activities for more than 20 years in the private and government sectors. He served as CEO for a manufacturing company in the US and now is a program leader with an international development bank in Washington DC. Previously, Antonello taught international business at the University of Evansville (Indiana) and now teaches project management at the University of Florence Italy. Antonello has authored three books on strategic planning and project management. |
| David Crouch, Jr. | David graduated from The Johns Hopkins University School of Professional Studies in Business and Education in 2005 with an M.B.A. (nonprofit management). In 2007, David earned the M.S.I.T.S. degree (competitive intelligence) from the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School. Prior to graduate studies, David completed B.A. degrees in Russian and International Relations at Goucher College. Additionally, David is a certified project management professional and has earned ITIL intermediate certification. David currently works at The Johns Hopkins University in the Information Technology Department as a member of the leadership team for the IT Solutions Center. At work, David serves as the chairman of the Employee Engagement Committee and as chair of the Assessments committee of the Johns Hopkins University Diversity Leadership Council. Since 2008, he has been teaching nonprofit management as an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore. David also has prior experience as vice president and executive trainer for an insurance marketing agency in Towson, Maryland. Outside of work, David serves as chair of the Networking and Career Services committee of the Dean’s Alumni Advisory Board for the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, as president of the Baltimore Alumni Association of Delta Sigma Pi, president of Learning is for Tomorrow, Inc. (an adult literacy program in Southeast Baltimore), and president of the Southeast Community Organization, Inc. David serves as advisor to Allsonet Training Institute, a nonprofit that provides computer training skills. His hobbies include fiction writing, Russian literature, and tennis. David lives with his wife in Fells Point (Baltimore), Maryland. |
| Matt Daimler | Matt Daimler founded the award-winning travel website SeatGuru.com in 2001. At the time of the sale, the site was averaging 1 million unique users and 5 million page views each month. From inception to sale, Susan and Matt Daimler were the company’s only employees. Both Matt graduated from Johns Hopkins University. Matt received a B.S. in Computer Engineering with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Management. He currently resides in New York City. |
| Susan Daimler | Capitalizing on the just-launched Google AdSense program and unprecedented media attention, SeatGuru quickly became a popular research tool for travelers. Susan Daimler joined SeatGuru full-time in 2004 and over the next two years helped grow the website’s traffic and revenue. In 2007, industry leader Expedia purchased SeatGuru. Susan graduated from Johns Hopkins University and received a B.A. in English. She currently resides in New York City. |
| Guy Filippelli | Guy Filippelli is a Managing Partner at Oxpoint Holdings and CEO of Berico Technologies, a firm that specializes in solving “hard-problem” technical challenges for the military, intelligence, and homeland defense sectors. Founded in 2006, Berico has grown to over $20 million in annual revenue, while incubating three other successful technology firms in the defense sector. The company specializes in designing and implementing simple, powerful architectures, analytics, and tools for data-intensive organizations that enable their customers to remain proactive, collaborative, and effective in a rapidly evolving operational environment. Guy was raised in Cleveland, Ohio and Detroit, Michigan, holds a B.S. in Economics from the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, and received his B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University, where he studied as a Marshall Scholar. He served nine years as an Army officer, with assignments in Europe, Korea, and Afghanistan, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He is a Next Generation Fellow of the Center for a New American Security, a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and an advisor to the Institute for the Study of War. |
Ben Gibbs |
Ben currently works at Johns Hopkins Technology Transfer, serving as a technology analyst for the Homewood intellectual property portfolio. He previously worked for the Center for Leadership Education, helping to oversee several initiatives there. Ben graduated from Johns Hopkins in 2005, with a B.A. in Economics. |
Josh Hurewitz |
Josh is an independent consultant with more than 20 years of experience focused on business strategy, business growth initiatives, market strategy, new business development and process improvement. He has worked in a wide range of industries, including significant experience in aviation, security, defense, health care, power, construction, agriculture, distribution and others. Besides his consulting experience, he directed a Corporate Business Development for ARINC, a $1B aviation services/product company and worked in the strategy function for two of the largest health care organizations in the US. He has launched new businesses, lead acquisitions, formed alliances and directed capital investment activity. Currently, he is the COO of Big Fish, a designer and producer of high-end framed art. He earned a B.S., M.B.A. from Cornell and a research Ph.D. from Rutgers. He has lectured in three schools at Johns Hopkins University. |
| Gloria Jacobovitz | Dr. Jacobovitz has over 20 years experience in technology based entrepreneurship, business strategy and marketing with startup as well as fortune 500 companies worldwide. She has held senior management positions in Telecommunication, Biotechnology and Biofuels, has co-founded and supported technology based start-up companies worldwide, and is an accomplished researcher with many published peer reviewed papers and 6 filed patents. She was part of the management team that contributed to Corvis $1 billion IPO, and has extensively consulted and developed corporate and marketing strategy for companies in Brazil, USA and EU that contributed to millions of dollars in private equity investments and International Bank loan. Dr. Jacobovitz is a Program Director for the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship, a member of the Technology Transfer Committee and Technology Commercialization advisor at the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. Dr. Jacobovitz holds a M.S. in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from UNICAMP (Sao Paulo, Brazil). |
| John Kernan | John first joined Hardesty Capital Management in 2008 as a marketing intern while he was was still an undergraduate. After graduating December 2008 with a B.A. in Economics, he joined the firm as a research analyst. He is currently undergoing the Chartered Financial Analyst program. In addition to researching and presenting reports on companies in which to invest, John takes on many "side" research tasks for the Investment Committee. These reports present various economic data for the group's consideration. His research focus is in the medical device sector. He also covers areas of technology, both hardware and software. John resides in the neighborhood of Hampden in Baltimore city. |
Derek Lewis |
Currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of R&D at OrthoHelix Surgical Designs, a rapidly growing orthopedic device manufacturer, Derek oversees the development and delivery of innovative medical devices into a traditionally underserved market space. OrthoHelix was founded, by an Ohio-based orthopedic surgeon, in 2004 to address the specific needs of extremity surgeons. Derek joined the organization in 2007 and has helped lead the company to rapid growth and net profitability in 2011. Currently, the company has nearly 15 R&D team members dedicated to delivering innovative devices to the market faster than the competition. A 1997 JHU Biomedical Engineering graduate, Derek entered the medical device field in 2000 with Biomet Microfixation. He spent several years developing neurosurgical fixation devices and eventually assumed the role of Director of Engineering. Derek resides in the Akron Ohio area with his wife Felicia, a 1999 JHU engineering graduate. They have two boys ages 5 and 1 who are already showing signs of following in their parent’s engineering footsteps.

| John A. Morgan | After receiving his B.S.-EE Degree from JHU in June of 1963, John began his 30 year telecommunications career as a member of the Initial Management Development Program for the C&P Telephone Company of Maryland. After completing his call to active duty as a First Lieutenant in the Army, he resumed his telephone career in early 1966 and began the M.S. program at JHU. John received his M.S.-Management Science Degree in 1969. After several Engineering and Network Planning assignments in the Maryland Company, he moved to Operations and then to a two year position in Operations at AT&T. In 1976 he returned to the Maryland Company as General Manager, Network Operations and Planning. John then became Vice President for Sales and headed the team that won the competition to replace the entire interagency telecommunications system for the Federal Government in Washington. His final position was the Vice President at Bell Commnications Research responsible for the Bell Operating Companies' Public Policy Staff. John retired from this position to begin a new company specializing in the SMART HOUSE home automation concept in 1993. When AMP and Molex Corporations, the two product manufacturers for SMART HOUSE , discontinued the product line in the late 1990s, he learned that being on the cutting edge of technology is exciting but the bleeding edge can be quite problematic. Since then John has enjoyed retirement with his wife of 47 years, Priscilla, their three children and eight grandchildren. He is also interested and active in local politics, education, Habitat For Humanity, and fitting and making golf clubs for fellow golfers. |
Edward O'Malley |
Ed is the founder of Motiv Engines, a company developing a spinout technology from Caterpillar inc. for the most efficient internal combustion engine in the world. Prior to Motiv, Ed co-founded Black Rock Systems, a manufacturer of diesel auxiliary power units for over-the-road trucks. At Black Rock he served in many capacities including CTO, VP Operations and VP Business Development. Before Black Rock, Ed was an aerospace engineer at Futron Corporation where he worked on the International Space Station for NASA. Ed has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and an M.B.A. in entrepreneurship from Babson College.

Ryan Packard |
Ryan graduated from Johns Hopkins in 2004. Post JHU he joined Morgan Stanley, spending five years in NY and London with their Real Estate, Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity and Workouts teams. After Morgan Stanley, Ryan joined Anchorage Capital, a global distressed credit hedge fund in London. Most recently Ryan joined Soroban Capital, a long/short focused equity fund in New York City. While at Johns Hopkins University Ryan and his roommate, Carmine Petrone, won the JHU Business Plan Competition in 2001 and took second place in 2002. Additionally they won the Baltimore City business plan competition, the Moshpit, in 2002, 2003, and placed second in 2004. |
Carmine Petrone |
Carmine Petrone joined Advent International in 2010 and focuses on buyouts in the business and financial services and healthcare sectors. Prior to Advent, Carmine was at Thomas H. Lee Partners, where he started in 2006 and focused on buyouts in the financial and business services and healthcare industries. His portfolio responsibilities there included Spectrum Brands and Warner Music Group. He also spent a summer covering business services at North Bay Capital Management, the hedge fund affiliate of Thomas H. Lee Partners. He started his career with Citigroup Global Markets, a leading investment bank, where he was a member of the Global Health Care group, which advised clients on M&A, business development, financing and restructuring projects. Carmine has an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from the Johns Hopkins University.

Joanne Pipkin |
For the past 30 years, Joanne has worked in the financial service industry. She has spent the last 15 years in Charitable Asset Management at State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), and currently serves as a Senior Relationship Manager and Team Leaders in a group that manages planned giving programs for national non-profit organizations. In her role Joanne focuses on client service and problem solving. Prior to SSgA, Joanne held positiosn as a portfolio manager and a closely-held company analyst. Joanne earned a M.A.S.-Finance degree from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. from Goucher College. She is also the past President of the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association Boston Chapter. |
| Erica Salkow | Erica serves as a Middle Market Relationship Manager with Fifth Third Bank in Raleigh, North Carolina. In this role, she manages and builds a portfolio of corporate clients in the core middle market segment ($20 - $150 million in annual revenue). She also leads and organizes a group of banking professionals in various lines of business including: capital markets, equipment finance, treasury management, international banking and wealth management. Prior to joining Fifth Third in 2010, Erica spent seven years in the commercial real estate industry, including three years as a Vice President in Portfolio Management with NewStar Financial, Inc. in Darien, Connecticut. At NewStar, she supported the successful closing of loans totaling $250 million in commitments, managed approvals for tenant improvements and capital expenses for more than fifty loans totaling $600 million in credit exposure and was actively involved with problem loan workouts. Additionally, Erica spent two years as a Legislative Assistant on Capitol Hill. She holds a BS in Finance from Florida State University and an M.B.A. from Johns Hopkins University (2003). |
| Robert Sapitowicz | Robert is Vice President of Business Development, Marketing and Communications for ARINC. Responsibilities include corporate strategic planning, acquisitions, technology evaluation, market research, business case development. In addition, Robert has recently assumed responsibility for the overall corporate marketing and communications for ARINC. |
Patrick Wayland |
Patrick graduated from Johns Hopkins with a B.S.E. in 1996 and M.S.E. 1997, both in Electrical Engineering. He began his career as an energy trader but quickly transitioned to a technology-focused hedge fund trader and analyst position at a Greenwich, CT based firm. During the next 11 years he helped found and grow three boutique long/short equity hedge funds and moved from trader to analyst to portfolio manager positions. In 2009 Mr. Wayland joined Merrill Lynch Private Wealth Management to start a wealth management practice focused on serving affluent families and family enterprises. In 2010 he joined the board of directors of his family's enterprise, Snell Construction Corporation, a real estate asset management and development company based in northern Virginia. Patrick lives with his wife Sarah and two girls Julia and Elizabeth in Rowayton, CT. |
