Member Requirements
- All active ballet company members must attend at least four (4) ballet classes a month. No more than one (1) ballet class a month may be substituted with a "ballet boot camp" workout session.
- All active members must teach at least one class per semester if they have danced ballet for at least one year; class instruction may be done alone or in collaboration with one other active member.
- All active members have the right to choreograph pieces, perform in pieces, vote in company elections, and run for officer positions.
- Members are only permitted to do pointework under proper conditions, and if they have previously done pointework under professional supervision for at least one (1) month.
Choreographer/Performer Requirements
- Choreographers must notify performers of rehearsal times at least 48 hours in advance. They must give performers their phone number and e-mail address at the first rehearsal, and they must respond within 24 hours of being contacted. They must also collect the e-mail addresses and phone numbers of all performers in their piece.
- Performers must attend all rehearsals for their pieces. They must also check their e-mails and phones at least once a day and respond to messages accordingly. They must notify the choreographer at least 24 hours in advance if they must miss a rehearsal. They also must notify both production manager and choreographer at least two weeks in advance if they must miss a performance.
- A performer who misses more than two (2) rehearsals for a piece with prior notification OR one (1) rehearsal for a piece without prior notification shall be excluded from that piece.
- In order to perform a pointe piece in a show, members must do pointework in at least one (1) class each week.
Rehearsals
- Shaq will schedule Sunday rehearsals.
- Because it's Valentine's Day and it's this upcoming Sunday, the rehearsals scheduled on Sunday, February 14 won't count towards the missed rehearsal policy.
- There will be a second choreography session on Sunday, March 28. Pieces must be demonstrated with as much choreography as possible, so that the company could give constructive criticism on the pieces' progress.
Formal
- It will be held at Nolan's from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27.
- The formal will be open to the entire school. Bring a date (or a friend)!
- Tickets will be $5 each, and there will be food and dancing.
- The theme will be "Mardi Gras."
- Camille will head the organization of the formal, and she has formed a committee of company members to help her plan it.
Elections
- Don't forget that we'll hold elections for next year's officers on Mon., 3/1!
- Take a look at the website to learn more about the officer positions.
