6.27.08 - Summary of 2008

We did two races this year, at Tennessee and Canada. Please check out our new photos. We have videos too, I'll post a link as soon as I find them!
6.13.07 - Video of Baja SAE RIT Endurance Race

We've returned from our last race of the season at RIT, and what a trip it was. Even though it was our first time at a 'Midwest' style Baja event, we completed all events with few setbacks. Please check out our endurance race highlights and our photos. More updates to come! Thanks to our sponsors for an incredible 2007 Baja season!
5.1.07 - Photos and Newsletter are online

Our photo gallery has been updated, and our first Spring newsletter is online, covering the race at UCF. Video will be uploaded soon as well. We've got one more race to go, but for now it's finals time at JHU. Stay tuned for more updates soon!
4.5.07 - Video of Testing
Its mostly slalom, but this is some footage of the car hitting some jumps and turns. It performed well for more than 2 hours of driving. The aquatic portion of testing was sadly not caught in this bit of video, however after this coming weekend footage of the car floating will definitely be up!
3.30.07 - Car Runs
The car was driven for the first time today after a troublesome u-joint ordering process.
It looks and feels great! Check out the video of the car putting around the quad:

3.20.07 - SAE Promotional Video
Here is a promotional video made by SAE that showcases the various "Extreme Engineering" Competitions including Baja and Formula SAE. If you are a sponsor of our team, look out for our Winter newsletter very soon!
1.29.07 - Moving Along
Things are moving along as planned, and the front of the chassis is complete. With just a few more bars to add for the rear,
we are aiming to get things driving by the middle of February, allowing plenty of time for testing. Thanks to our sponsors for helping us out!

11.10.06 - New Sponsors

We are very proud to announce two new sponsors of our 2007 team: Ned Hayes of Pillar Data Sytems, based in San Jose, CA, and Sayeed Choudhury, an Engineering School Alumnus and Society of Engineering Alumni member. With their generous donations, we are well on our way to achieving our funding goals for this year.
11.2.06 - Sponsorship Packet Available
The 2007 Sponsorship Packet is online at www.jhu.edu/asme/files/sponsorship2007.pdf. Check it out and help spread the word! We're looking for lots of help this year, with our biggest team membership ever (27 members!) Thanks to everyone who helped clean up the welding room.
10.21.06 - Mini Projects and Open House
Today the Baja SAE team was at the Engineering Open House to show prospective students the car and allow parents and students to ask questions about Baja and school in general. On Friday, the new Baja members raced their Space Derby Mini Projects, and Kelly's team took home the championship, although many others had excellent entries. Regular meetings will be starting soon in the HAC lab for CAD work to begin.
09.08.06 - Now Recruiting New Members
With the transaxle removed and a new, redesigned spool differential on the way, we attended the SAC fair to recruit new members. About 15 prospective members stopped by, and Baja SAE will be having its first meeting on Monday, Sept 18th at 6:30PM in Shaffer 100. See you there!
08.22.06 - New Sponsor and More
We've just acquired a new sponsor! Nite Rider
(www.niterider.com) has generously
provided our team with a sponsorship, and we are proud to be one of the elite few.
Watch out for our HellFire HID lighting system on the 2007 car! Nite Rider offers lights
for several other applications, including mountain bikes, ATV's, motorcycles, and much more. For
motorzied off-road applications, visit www.niterideroffroad.com.
If you haven't already, check out our 2006 Spring Newsletter, which gives a look into
the competition and the year. 2006 Spring Newsletter
07.12.06 - Video Up
This year's video is up - check out the media section. A special thanks to our sponsors who made our 2006 car possible, and Peter Kuhn for putting together the footage we managed to caputre during the year.
04.16.06 - Competition Complete
And we're back. The bottom line? 47th overall, which is better than last year. Our car performed fabulously when it wasn't breaking, and we got an award for persistence. Full race report up shortly.
03.14.06 - It's Alive
The car ran for the first time in the wee hours of today. We weren't
able to really exercise her capabilities due to a missing transaxle
bolt, but that will be remedied soon enough. What's the verdict?
Much smoother than last year's car, quicker, and WAY more fun.
Check out a brief video clip (6mb, wmv format):
First Run
02.27.06 - On four wheels
This weekend we got the suspension finished and the car's on four wheels. Hopefully sometime in the coming two weeks you'll see it going and stopping.
01.22.06 - Progress
Coming right along, the front of the chassis is finished and the parts for the rest of the car are coming together nicely. We are still on the lookout for funding, however, so if you're interested let us know.
01.14.06 - Construction Begun!
We've made an excellent start in putting the car together. Currently we have most of the major parts of the frame tacked up and ready for final welding. We've also moved into a new space, a canopy graciously purchased for us by the department. It's situated outdoors and while not always cozy is miles better than working in the hall. Seeing the product of hardworking team members combined with the backing of our sponsors is very rewarding.
09.06.2005 - Orientation Outing
We took the car out today to show for orientation. After a few too many laps around a populated quad we had to stop, but it was great fun while it lasted.
08.29.2005 - Lynn Rides Again
We took some time lately to fix up last year's car for the purpose
of promotion, since last year was our first year. The way our car
looks, this will be no easy task.
But the real reason was just so we could tear around in it anyway.
06.20.2005 - Video up
The video is finally finished. Check the media section to see this year's build and event.
06.01.2005 - We're Done!
After a lot of work and little sleep, we're done with this year's competition. Video should be up soon, everyone had a blast. A writeup of the event is here.
04.06.2005 - More Media
New pictures have been posted, check out our chassis in the early stages. Lots of work will be done this weekend, stay tuned for major developments.
03.28.2005 - Design & Cost Reports
Design and Cost reports have been mailed and are complete! We are hunkering down and readying ourselves for the competition, May 5-7.
02.16.2005 - Fabrication
Please check the forum for information on what needs to be done on the Chassis.
02.12.2005 - Realization
Friday, February 11, 2005 Marks the first official build day of
Mini Baja at JHU. For all our hard work, we have gotten this far
but there is still quite a bit to go. Steering, brakes, flotation
all need to be finalized. My goal is to have this chassis mostly
done by the end of next week. Go team! There is definitely going to
be a meeting this coming Sunday night to assign out tasks to be
done!
New pictures up! Check the Media section
for the latest.
01.30.2005 - Development
The site still needs to have its sponsorships page up. I will work on that, it will look similar to the Members page. I may need some help with turning our sponsorship packet into html later.
