A Few Words From Our President

Welcome to the new and improved ASA website! Thank you for coming through to our website to see what immense materials we have to offer you. This year ASA is planning on bringing you the best of Africa. We want the Hopkins community to know more about the richness and diversity of the wonderful continent and we would also like to bring everyone up to date with the issues ailing the progress of Africa. Make sure to read what ASA is all about and what wonderful events we have coming up while you are cruising through this website. Our meetings are also posted up, so hopefully I will see you at one of those. One does not have to be of African descent to become a member of ASA, just willing to learn and help. Thank you again for coming to enjoy the website and I shall see you soon.

Keep the peace,

Fornati Bedell
President 2007-2008

P.S.: Please look out for articles by ASA in the Black Student Union’s Perspectives newsletter this school year.

What is the ASA?

ASA? What does that stand for? Are there cars in Africa? Do you live in trees or huts? Many have been asked these and other such ridiculous questions. Initial reaction may be to take offense. But, when it is taken into consideration that many of these questions are meant not to offend, but of genuine curiosity, the reaction should be to educate. The African Students Association (ASA) of the Johns Hopkins University comprises a group of students of African and non-African decent dedicated to the education of the Hopkins community at large of the different cultures that comprise the African continent. ASA also provides a network of support for African students at Johns Hopkins. The African Students Association is a service as well as social organization which aims to rid misconceptions concerning Africa through education.

Welcome to the website for the African Students Association! This site will be your online resource to find out what our organization is currently involved in and what e'll be doing in the near future. Our site is still in it's development stages, so please visit us often to see what new additions we have made.
