Welcome! The Italian Placement Exam is divided into three parts. Your previous knowledge of Italian will determine which parts of the exam you will need to take:
If you have little or no previous exposure to Italian, register for Italian Elements 1 (210.151); there is no need to take the test. Taking the Exam: Click on the following link and follow the instructions: https://portal.johnshopkins.edu/cgi-bin/webct/libwww-autoreg.cgi?COURSEID=as_italplacement_ongoing • Log in using your JHED ID and password • Choose “Italian Language Placement Exam” • Choose “Take Placement Exam” • Choose “Take Placement Exam – Part 1” • If appropriate, continue on to parts 2 and 3 of the Exam. *** PLEASE NOTE *** You are allowed to take this test only once. If you start the test, you will have to complete all the applicable parts without taking a break. You should allow for at least 45 minutes per part (e,g, if you are required to take parts 1 and 2, you will need about 1 hour and 40 minutes). The maximum time that is allowed for each part is 60 minutes. Ethics Statement Johns Hopkins University believes strongly that every member of its community should hold the highest standard of integrity for their work and avoid academic dishonesty. You are expected to behave in an ethical manner while taking the online Italian placement exam. You must take this test without receiving assistance from anyone else and without the help of any document (no notes, no book, no dictionary, no Internet materials). You are allowed to take this test ONLY ONCE. Reproduction of the material on this test is a violation of ethical standards. You should not discuss the questions on these tests with others nor may you provide others with the questions on these tests. Violations of ethical standards may be grounds for disciplinary action which may include dismissal or expulsion from the University. You will receive your exam score and enrollment recommendation within 7 working days after taking the exam.
