La Tanguería is a Hopkins affiliated club open to all those who are interested in the World of Tango. Our club is diverse and modern. Lessons in Argentinean Tango are taught by a native of Buenos Aires, Maximiliano Gonzalez, who is an enthusiastic and entertaining instructor. Argentinean Tango happens to be different from Classic or Ballroom Tango; the Argentinean style is more fluid, exotic and personalized. Our classes are supportive of all leader-follower combinations and couples of all levels. As part of the culture of Tango, our group enjoys Latin Movie Nights and Performances at school events. Local events are also of interest; Milongas (click for info) held downtown are often encouraged as an opportunity to practice. Furthermore, our club also holds milongas on campus with refreshments.
