The overall goal of the laboratory is to combine engineering principles and basic science with developmental biology to understand mechanisms of tissue engineering in novel biomaterial systems. The laboratory research thrusts are stem cells, novel biomaterial design, and creative integration of tissue engineering system in vivo. A general principal of the lab is to bring together people with highly orthogonal backgrounds (polymer chemists, biologists, and surgeons) to solve problems.
