Guidelines for Clubs:
- Recognition by the GRO enables groups to reserve rooms on campus. To apply for recognition as a GRO group, a group representative should write a brief (say, one- or two-paragraph) description of the group and send it to gro (at) jhu (dot) edu.
- The GRO Steering Committee will determine whether to recognize groups seeking GRO recognition. The criterion for being recognized is that the group provide some sort of benefit or service to graduate students at the School of Engineering and the School of Arts and Sciences. Recognized groups should register as a GRO group at jhu.mystudentgroups.com. In recognizing a group, GRO does not endorse any of the group’s positions, policies, or actions or agree to provide any money to the group. (Anyone, whether affiliated with a recognized group or not, may apply for funding from the GRO through http://www.jhu.edu/gro/funding.) Furthermore, recognition by the GRO does not provide a new group with an independent university account. Questions about obtaining university accounts and transactions that require them should be directed to the GRO treasurer.
- The group must remain in good standing. All organizations recognized by GRO must abide by this these guidelines, the decisions of the GRO Steering Committee, and the rules, regulations, and policies of the Johns Hopkins University, including the regulations of the Office of Student Involvement. (more information)
- Every year, the group should submit to the GRO contact information for some member of the group. GRO reserves the right to terminate its recognition of a group at any time. For more information, please contact the GRO at gro (at) jhu (dot) edu or x6-7682.
- We have two avenues for publicity: broadcast e-mails, and the Grad News. To send a broadcast e-mail to grad students at JHU, send an e-mail to gro (at) jhu (dot) edu with the message you want to send (including a subject line), the e-mail address you'd like the message to be from, and the date when you'd like the message to be sent. To have something printed up in the Grad News, contact the Grad News editor at gradnews@mail.com.
- To apply for GRO funding, go to http://www.jhu.edu/gro/funding and follow the directions there carefully.
